Knee Replacement

Robotic Total Knee Replacement

Robotic Total Knee Replacement

Step 1. Registration of the anatomy

Small temporary markers are placed that allow the robotic system to recognize with precision the anatomy of your knee.

This information creates a personalized three-dimensional model to guide the surgery.

Step 2. Personalized planning

Before performing any cut, the surgeon evaluates in real time the alignment, the movement and the balance of the knee. With this information the surgical plan is adjusted to adapt it to the anatomy and needs of each patient.

Step 3. Preparation of the bone

With the assistance of the robotic system, the surgeon carefully prepares the femur and the tibia. The technology provides feedback in real time to help perform the planned cuts with precision.

Step 4. Placement of the prosthesis

The prosthetic components are placed and its position, alignment and stability are verified. Before fixing them definitively, the movement of the knee is checked during all its range of mobility.

Step 5 Final verification

The stability, the balance of the ligaments and the functioning of the joint are confirmed again. Only when all these parameters are satisfactory is the surgery finalized.

Step 6. Recovery and rehabilitation

After the surgery, the patient begins an individualized recovery program. The mobilization usually is initiated the same day or the next day, followed by physiotherapy to recover the strength, the mobility and the function of the knee.

A surgery guided by technology, performed by your surgeon

Robotic surgery does not replace the surgeon. The robotic system acts as an assistance tool that provides information and guidance during the procedure, while all surgical decisions and every step of the operation are performed by the specialist.
